What the Client Needed
The client wanted a dedicated EV charging point at home rather than relying on public chargers or a standard socket. They needed a tidy installation that would work well with the layout of the driveway and keep the charging cable easy to reach.
The property had a suitable exterior brick wall close to the driveway, making it a practical position for a wall-mounted charger. SC Electric planned the installation to keep the charger easy to access while keeping the visible cabling exceptionally neat, integrated, and secure.
As an approved installer, we selected the popular Myenergi Zappi Smart EV Charger. The customer wanted to optimize their charging speeds, integrate safety features, and ensure the entire setup matched the modern aesthetic of their home exterior.
Installing a 7.4kW EV charger is a major addition to any domestic electrical supply. It requires dedicated circuit wiring, appropriate RCBO or RCD protection, and official notification to the District Network Operator (DNO). Secure Wall Mounting
Mounted the charger securely on the primary exterior brick wall of the main building, positioned perfectly adjacent to the driveway to guarantee stress-free connection for the client.
Neat Cable Routing
Routed all external feeds meticulously from the supply distribution panel using premium heavy-duty black containment. Every segment was laid perfectly straight and flush to avoid messy lines.
Technical Wiring & Connections
Wired the charger into a dedicated dynamic circuit. Connected sensors, ran load tests, and verified that PEN fault protection operates correctly without requiring an external earth rod.
Full System Tests
Conducted point-to-point electrical testing including insulation resistance, RCD trip times, and live charger output tests with a dedicated EV diagnostic simulator.
Handover & Custom App Setup
Verified the client's Myenergi application was synced. Guided them through scheduling cheaper overnight tariffs, setting charging thresholds, and handed over the installation clean and ready for use.
