Installation in Penn Hill, Poole
A decorated cloakroom in Penn Hill, Poole BH14, wired so the lighting and heating are as considered as the finishes: a display niche that lights up from a motion sensor, electric underfloor heating with its own thermostat, a timed extractor fan, a permanent feed for a backlit mirror and a decorative pendant.

Project Brief
This cloakroom in Penn Hill had been finished with real care: framed botanical wallpaper panels, a stone basin, brass taps and a scalloped mirror. The electrics had to match that standard. Nothing could look like an afterthought, and the room needed to stay warm, lit and ventilated without anyone having to think about it.
The brief covered six items. The electric underfloor heating needed its own feed, a floor sensor and a thermostat. The recessed niche above the WC needed a light that comes on by itself when someone walks in. The extractor fan was to run on a timer, the backlit mirror needed a permanent feed, and a decorative pendant was going up in the ceiling.
This is one example of the bathroom and cloakroom electrical work we carry out as an electrician in Bournemouth working across Poole and the wider BCP area.

Installed a timed extractor fan.
Installed a permanent feed for the backlit mirror.
Installed the decorative ceiling pendant.
Electric Underfloor Heating with a Floor Sensor and Thermostat
Electric underfloor heating needs three things from the electrician: a feed for the heating mat, a sensor in the floor and a thermostat to run it. The floor sensor lets the thermostat read the temperature of the floor itself as well as the room. Here the controller is a programmable IMI Heatmiser thermostat with hold and holiday settings, so the cloakroom can be warm when it is needed and left alone when it is not.
Motion-Sensor Niche Lighting, Timed Extractor Fan and a Backlit Mirror
In a small room, the controls are part of the design. The niche downlight is switched by a motion sensor, so the display lights up as you walk in without another switch on the wall. The extractor fan runs on a timer, so it carries on after the room has been used to clear moisture and odours, then switches itself off. The mirror is on a permanent feed: it always has power and is switched at the mirror rather than from the wall. Overhead, a brass and opal glass pendant finishes the lighting.
